I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this. It's sad that a father actually wants to be a father and the state won't allow it but they are constantly talking about deadbeat dads and moms. I wish you the best and everything will work out in the end. It has to because you deserve this. I really wish my husband cared more about his two sons the way you care about yours. He's here but that's about all I can say about him. I really wish you all the best.

Bill, I am so sorry about the Michigan Supreme court denying your appeal. It breaks my heart to hear that. I have been following your journey the last few years & I have been praying that you would get the right that you deserve to see your son. It is such an injustice.. not only to you, but to Caleb. He is losing so much by not being able to have you as part of his life. He has a father that WANTS to be in his life & is denied the right because of some stupid laws. There are so many "dead beat" dads out there & you are the one who is punished for WANTING to be part of your son's life. My middle daughter Piper is just a few months older than Caleb & I can only imagine the pain that you going through not being able to hold him & tell him how much you love him in person. I will keep praying for the day that you will get to be with him & he will KNOW just how much you have done for him & how lucky he is to have a father as wonderful as you. My heart goes out to you.

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU.MY SON MICHAEL WENT THROUGH A SHORTER VERSION OF WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH I GUESS HE GOT HIS BREAK WHEN SHE AGREED TO A DNA TEST. HE WAS ABLE TO SEE HIS SON THE FIRST 4OR5 WEEKS FOR ABOUT AN HOUR EVERY OTHER SUNDAY. THE DAY THE RESULTS CAME BACK WAS THE LAST TIME HE SEEN HIM FOR 4 1/2 MONTHS . MICHAEL DID RECIEVE PAPERS FROM HER LAWYER SAYING SHE WANTED HER HUSBAND TO BE THE FATHER BUT WHEN HE WENT TO COURT SHE AGREED ON SHORT VISITATION. BUT REFUSED MICHAELS REQEUST TO CCHANGE THE BABIES LAST NAME FROM HER HUSBAND TO HIS.SO EVEN THOUGH MICHAEL IS CONSIDERED THE FATHER HE'S NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE THE CHILD HIS LAST NAME DUE TO THE SAME LAW AND THE FACT THAT THE FIRST TWO LAWYER MEESED UP SO BAD HE CANT APPEAL . AND EVERYONE HE TALKS TO IS BLOWED AWAY THAT YOU CAN BE A FATHER PAY CHILD SUPPORT PAY FOR INSURANCE PREMIUMS AND EVERY THING A DAD DOES BUT YOU CANT GIVE YOUR CHILD THE LAST NAME THAT BELONGS TO HIM. THIS LAW NEEDS CHANGED PERIOD.ITS NOT RIGHT THAT IF YOU HADNT WANTED TO BE A FATHER SHE COULD HAVE MADE YOU BUT BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE A FATHER SHE CAN STOP YOU. THE BOND BETWEEN A FATHER AND CHILD SHOULD OVERIDE THE BOND OF MARRIAGE. I HAVE READ SO MANY PLACES WHERE IT SAY THAT A CHILD DEVELOPES BETTER AND DOES BETTER IN SCHOOL AND LIFE WHEN HE IS RAISED WITH HIS BIOLOGICAL FATHER ESPIALLY WHEN HE WANTS TO BE A FATHER .SO GOOD LUCK AND GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR SON AND KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE BEHIND YOU.

my heart goes out to you man. I can sympathize. my ex girlfriend and I broke up right after she gave birth. I am not allowed to see the baby and yet the courts are demanding that I pay child support to her for the baby. I requested a paternity test and I basically got blown off and told I was the father by default and no ammount of letters would help. I feel like I am running into a brick wall. my wife (a different wonderful lady) and I have a beautiful daughter and it is sad that she may have a brother that she will never know because the courts refuse to help the fathers out at all.

Bill, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention and sharing your story. This needs to get out to everyone; it's an example of how badly weakened our legal system is when law can be interpreted so ambiguously by practitioners who care little for morals, ethics, or decency. You clearly have all three in abundance, and it's my dearest hope for you that these assets combined with sheer determination will in the end win the day for you and Caleb. Don't stop fighting for this, and may God be with you.
